Spiritual Leadership in the Family

Fr. Michael Keating, Ph.D., is a Professor of History in the Catholic Studies Department at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Fr. Keating addressed a group of approximately 80 men on Saturday, February 17 talking about the role of the father as spiritual leader of the family.

Fr. Keating presented four basic principles:

  • The completion of male character is fatherhood

  • We become fathers by becoming sons of our Father in heaven

  • The orphan always becomes the slave

  • The primary mission of men is to take on the role of the father in order to liberate those in our care.
